Caterpillars. Are they cute little fuzzy creatures that turn into beautiful butterflies, or are they Satan's bug? My vote goes with the latter. You see, I was stung by one last week. Yes. Stung. By a caterpillar. I was riding the mower, totally minding my own business and sweating like a pig. I felt something on my neck and flicked it off. It was a caterpillar. YES, I'm sure. It looked kind of like the one in the following picture.
Anyway, as soon as I flicked it off of my neck I felt this stinging sensation--- and when I say stinging sensation what I'm really saying is that it HURT LIKE HELL. I thought I must be losing my mind because cute little fuzzy caterpillars don't bite or sting. Or do they? I googled it. They do. Those sweet little fuzzy hairs are actually spines that are filled with an irritant that can cause severe pain. (Google's words. Not mine) It has been almost a week now, and I still have this patch on the base of my neck about 2"x 3" in size that is covered in little bumps. Gross!
Caterpillars. Satan's bugs! I hate 'em!

There, there my friend. Now are you sure your "caterpillar" friend didn't have a forked tongue and fangs? Because in these parts we call long, squiggly creatures that bite SNAKES.

You're lucky you don't have permanent nerve damage. I'd sue that caterpillar if I were you...and that's the last time I'd mow that darn lawn of yours.

What is the chance in a life time that you get stung by a caterpillar?? Maybe as much as being bitten by a gator... and it happens to YOU! Poor YOU!! I feel for you, but it gives you an opportunity to write a great blog post!! That is how my mind goes most of the time... at least :-)
