Sophie lost a tooth!

Sophie lost her first tooth today, and boy is she excited!!! We finally broke it free when we were wiggling it after school. From that point on, Sophie was on a mission. She messed with that tooth in front of a mirror until it was hanging there, and she didn't make a peep when I finally pulled it for her.

I don't know what I was thinking when I took this pic---- I was so desperate for a picture of the big occasion that I didn't bother to think about how gross a close-up picture would be of a kid who just finished eating a bag of Doritos. Nice. Don't enlarge the pic. The remnants of Doritos that are all over her face aren't pretty. ;-)

Oh, and she thinks the Tooth Fairy should give her $5 rather than the going rate at the Arneson home of $1. Sheesh! ;-)

Still lice free....

It has been exactly one week since the girls brought home the dreaded "lice in the classroom" letter and, knock on wood, we are still lice free. Keep your fingers crossed........ ;-)

Kuta? Kinnim? Sat La'? Chawa? BUGS!

The girls came home with a letter from the school nurse yesterday saying, "a student in your child's kindergarten class has head lice". That's all I needed to read---- I felt lightheaded, sweaty, dizzy, faint. I couldn't even continue reading the letter--- I had to return to it later to read the part about checking your child's head and what to look for.

I googled head lice last night and read about how to identify lice/nits and how to treat them until I saw those yicky bugs in my sleep.

What, I ask you, WHAT am I going to do if Gracie gets head lice with all of that hair? I can *possibly* deal with Sophie getting it--- I can see myself sitting and picking out louse like a stinkin' monkey. But Grace? She has more hair than about 3 people put together. I gooped up her hair this morning with tons of hair gel and then braided it tightly because I heard through the grapevine that if you have a lot of product in your hair then the critters tend not to stick. I certainly hope that's good info.....

I'm afraid. Very afraid.

Kindergarten funnies

Thank goodness my sister teaches at the same school my girls attend. Otherwise, I wouldn't get to see these funnies.....

Take a look at the adorable self-portraits the kids made. They say their name, what they like to so, and what they're good at. Nice, huh? Well, scroll on down to Grace's. She can "eat" by herself. I'm so proud. ha ha ha
