CHEEEEEEEEEESSSEEE!

--and here is a video of the girls' preschool class in their Halloween finery. I think my favorite part is the hysterical laugh from one of the moms at the end of the video. ;-)

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!!!! Here are the girls in their costumes....

Vampires and Werewolves... Oh my!

I'm completely, totally, unabashedly obsessed with the Twilight book series------ I finished New Moon this morning and am on the hunt for Eclipse. I'm exhausted from staying up so late reading last night, but I'm sure that I'll be up late again tonight if I can get my hands on Eclipse today. I'm pathetic. ;-)

On another note, Sophie did GREAT at the dentist yesterday. She is such a tough little kid. Again, she didn't make a peep when she got her numbing shot; tears flowed but no sounds were made. :-( One more visit for a last filling next week, and she'll be done. Hopefully, her adult teeth will be stronger than her baby teeth when they come in!

Here we go again...

Sophie has another dentist appointment today for her second filling. I'm nervous about it, but she reminded me that it only hurt for a minute the last time. She also asked me to help hold her hands down when Dr Mendez gave her the shot so she wouldn't knock the needle out of her mouth again. Sophie is such an old soul. How many 5 year olds say things like that?

My new favorite book is.....

Drum roll please...... TWILIGHT

Look out Oprah! I'm starting my own book club. ;-) I read it this weekend and absolutely LOVED it. Now I can't wait for the movie to come out next month!!!! I'll be obsessively reading the rest of the series until then...

Whew!

Whew! I'm finally home from Kansas City, and I'm dog tired!!! I finished my 4th graduate credit hour for my current teaching certificate, so I'm set to teach yet another 5 years in paradise. ;-) This class was about using Movie Maker, which is great, but it is a PC only program so it really won't do me much good in my Macintosh world but that's okay....

Anyway, here is the finished product of my class. I made it with photos taken last year by my friend and awesome photographer, Tammy Williams of Clarity Photography.

Trip to the Dentist

Well, she made it---- Sophie had her first cavity filled at the dentist this morning. She was SUCH a little trooper. When Dr Mendez started to give her the numbing shot her little hand jerked straight up and knocked the needle out so he had to poke her again. Great big (HUGE) tears streamed down her little face, but she didn't make a peep. What a brave girl!

After it was all said and done, Sophie gave Dr Mendez a big hug. I could cry right now just thinking about it. :-(

Doctor Day Tomorrow--- YIKES!

Tomorrow is doctor day for the Arneson crew---- Sophie has an appointment to have a baby tooth filled and I'm afraid, very afraid. She's a tough kid and LOVES to go to the doctor (weird, I know) so I'm hoping it won't be too stressful. I just thank God that it isn't Grace having the tooth filled. I'm not so sure my nerves could take that.

Here are a few pics of the "calm before the storm". The girls are having an extremely healthy meal of toasted cheese sandwiches and veggies. Yes, it's even Veg-All. Yum yum! ;-) How boring are we that I'm posting pics of my girls eating?!?!?

Great SNL Video!

Sarah Palin appeared on Saturday Night Live last night. I didn't watch it but did see this video today, and it's great.

Planning for Halloween

Okay, so I allowed the girls to choose their own costumes this year..... Grace chose to be a Native American girl and Sophie chose to be an Asian girl. What a stretch, eh? I'll get pics up of their costumes for this year when they make their debut on Halloween night. I found the cutest costumes that were bottles of ketchup and mustard that would have be awesome, but nooooooooo.....

Anyhoo, here are a couple of my favorite shots from last year's trick-or-treating experience. Obviously, they were chickens. The expression on Sophie's face after the dogs knocked her down is priceless. How bad of a mother does that make me for laughing? ;-)

Is it election day yet?

I don't know about you, but I'm sick to death of the election and just want it to end.... I need to find a countdown ticker somewhere.

Anyway, here is a great campaign song--- "Time For Some Campaignin'"

You have mail!

Yesterday, I got two surprises in the mail----- papers from Sophie & Grace. They mailed them from Pre School, and I was excited to see what was inside. Here is exhibit A (Grace's paper).

Really, it's very sweet. "I love my family because they love me". However, notice the pictures she drew----- As Grace very eloquently explained it to me, "The big body with the brown hair is daddy. Sophie is under him smelling his stinky feet. I am under his arm smelling his stinky arm pit. That's you, mama, to the side. The purple one is a baby, but I don't want it." I can only imagine what Mrs. Wyckoff thought as Grace was explaining the picture to her. ha ha What a girl!

Exhibit B is Sophie's paper. The drawings weren't nearly as interesting although I'm sure their teacher gets a good laugh from their descriptions. Sophie's drawings, in case you were wondering, are snowmen. That square thing is their clubhouse made from blankets. Sophie also informed me that she told Mrs Wyckoff today that she and Sissy are not allowed to try on hats at school because her Mom said there were bugs in them. Nice. ;-)

I came across this today and really liked it----

A child sat on Jesus' lap in the splendor of heaven.
The child asked, "Is it time?" Jesus parted the clouds, looked and said, "No, not yet child."
The child asked "When will it be time?" Jesus replied, "When lessons are learned, hardships endured, and loneliness lived, then it will be time."
Time passed. The child asked, "Is it time?" Jesus parted the clouds, looked and said, "No, not yet child."
The child asked, "When will it be time?" Jesus replied, "When maturity is reached, self-worth affirmed and spirits strengthened, then it will be time."
Time passed. The child asked, "Is it time?"Jesus parted the clouds, looked and said,
"Their love is strong and their hearts are open. Yes, now it is time-Your parents are ready."

My first blog!

A blog? Yes, believe it or not. Hopefully, I'll keep it updated to let family & friends know what is going on in our lives..... please don't count on witty posts, though. ;-)

Anyway, here are a few pics of the girls' first day of preschool. They LOVE their teacher, and Sophie even asked me why I couldn't be more like their teacher Mrs. Wyckoff. Nice, eh? Grace has also already kissed her first boy at school---- she called him "Plankton" but we later found out that the little stud is actually named Clayton. We had the "don't kiss boys" talk but I'm not so sure it sunk in. Teenage years are going to be fun fun fun at our home! ;-)
