O' Christmas Tree, O' Christmas Tree, nah nah-nah nah nah nah nah

Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree

Our Christmas Tree

You decide!

Isn't the fern a nice touch for the holidays? ;-) AND, I just noticed that the tree is crooked. ha ha The girls think it's beautiful, though, so what more could I ask for?

I have decided that we have truly become that family. You know the kind--- when they pull up to a family event, everyone just shakes their heads. Pop cans fall out of the car as they climb out, and there are french fries on the floor board from who knows when. We're such a bunch of Rednecks. Yes, I'm proud.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I am finally feeling a little bit better after having a nasty bout of the stomach flu. I'm so thankful today that the rest of my family hasn't gotten it, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't!

The girls are wanting to put up our Christmas tree tonight, so I guess that yicky old thing will have to make it's appearance. Each year I say that I want to get a real tree, but I have now lived through 41 Christmases and I have yet to have a real tree. I'll post a pic of our pathetic tree after we put it up. Truly, it's a Charlie Brown Christmas at our house.... ;-)

I "pwedge aweegence to the fwag"....

Apparently the girls learned how to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Pre School yesterday because they said it ALL evening long last night. Anyway, here is a video--- since y'all know the Pledge, I guess an interpreter won't be necessary. ;-) Gucci doesn't seem too impressed, does he?

Yeah, he's still cool.....

New simpler look---

Well? What do you think? I just put the girls' pics up as a header on the blog and took off all of the fancy background. Too plain? Just right?

Yes, We Can!

Well, even though President-elect Obama wasn't "my" candidate, he IS my future President. As a mother who battled to get U.S. citizenship for my Thai born daughter, I am proud that Americans flocked to the polls this year and voted.

Yes, We Can!

My girls...

I'm sitting here with Sophie and she is talking nonstop about the TV show iCarly-- I'm not even able to tune her out. Ahhh, I remember the days when I just wanted the girls to be able to say Mama. Now they're never quiet. ;-) Here is a montage I made of Sophie when we went to Thailand to bring her home.

And here is Gracie's montage...
My babies are growing up way too fast. :-(

Last trip to the dentist... for now

Sophie made it through her third dental appointment without a single tear today. I'm so proud of my girl! Her cavities have all been filled, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that good brushing will keep any other cavities at bay. I'm convinced that a possible lack of prenatal care and/or orphanage life contributed to Sophie's cavities because she is excellent at brushing her teeth.

I've made an appointment for Gracie to have her first dental appointment. She is scheduled for her first checkup on Dec 4. PLEASE keep us in your prayers---- or at the very least share some Valium with me. ;-)

Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home!

We have been INVADED!!!!!! Yesterday the front of our house was literally covered in thousands of these things----

Think they're cute? NOOOOOO!!! In fact, they aren't even ladybugs. They're Multicolored Asian Lady Beetles, and I hate them!!!!!!

Here is what I found out about these danged things: The multicolored Asian lady beetle (Harmonia axyridis), has become common throughout the United States. It is well known for the annoying habit of accumulating on the sides of buildings and wandering indoors during the fall. Asian lady beetles are a beneficial biological control in trees during the summer, and in fields and gardens during the fall, but can be a severe household nuisance during late fall and winter. Wooded residential and industrial areas are especially prone to problems. I also found out that they are attracted to bright/light colors. Nice, since our house is white AND in a wooded area. :-(

Luckily, the thousands of beetles that were on my front porch all died during the night but now I'm on a mission to keep them from coming back.

Twilight series....

Well, I did it. I just finished the last book of the Twilight series (Breaking Dawn). It was fantastic (as were the other three). Now I'll have to patiently wait until the movie comes out... Guess I'll have to get back to 'real life' now and clean the house or something. :-(
